Looking to get in touch with me?

There are a couple of easy ways to do this:

E-mail:

nick [at] nicktavares [dot] com

nick [at] staticandfeedback [dot] com

If you'd like to know what I'm currently working on, are requesting a resume, or would like to give me a call, feel free to e-mail me at either address shown, and we'll set something up. I typically check my e-mail frequently, so I should return your message quickly.

And a little about me

I fancy myself a writer, albeit one who struggles with writer's block and motivation more often that you'd typically like, but all the same, it's the medium in which I feel most comfortable. Mostly non-fiction articles and essays, I'm happy to grab a notebook and go somewhere for an hour or two and jot down whatever I'm feeling. Longer writing projects are rare, but they're typically my favorite pieces when I'm finished.

I have had a lot of articles, stories and columns published, with a good majority of them appearing in The Standard-Times, of New Bedford, Mass., and Static and Feedback, an online magazine that I helped launch, and where I still serve as editor and webmaster.

For a few years, I was also a page designer at The Standard-Times, creating a fair share of covers, and I now serve there as an internet producer, editing and producing video as well as filing stories when needed. I've also worked on several Web sites, serving as an editor, content manager, and developer here and there. Luckily, these are all projects that have been a lot of fun for me, and I've been extremely fortunate to have these opportunities.

I have plenty interests. I love music, probably more than anything. I'd list my favorite bands, but that would take up a good 1,000 words or so in itself. I also dabble in musicianship, fumbling along on the guitar and bass, and I can pick out a few chords on the piano, too. No fumbling on the harmonica, though. I own that.

I love reading and watching movies, but I fight myself on both sometimes. But it's always a rewarding experience, even when I decide I don't particularly like something. It's all part of the scientific process, right? I'm also a sports fan (those three years as a sports columnist didn't come from nowhere). I can watch a lot of different games and events, but I'm primarily a Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan.

As far as this site? I'm slowly adding to this library every day, and my hope is that this can soon be a complete, living archive of my work. In the meantime, please note that this is still a baby, growing a little bit each day.

Thanks,
